Dr Bhadran Bose
A/Prof. Bhadran Bose is a senior staff specialist nephrologist at Nepean Hospital and a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. He has specific clinical and research expertise in glomerular diseases.
He completed his Nephrology training at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, followed by a fellowship in glomerular diseases at the University of Toronto, Canada.
A/Prof. Bose was awarded a PhD from the University of Queensland for his thesis ‘Treatment of Glomerular Diseases’, with a specific focus on membranous nephropathy. He has contributed significantly to the scientific community through original research and systematic reviews published in leading international nephrology journals.
He has co-authored nephrology chapters in academic textbooks, and serves as a peer reviewer for multiple academic journals. He founded the first Australia and New Zealand Glomerular Disease Workshop and is actively involved in teaching and mentorship.
Dr Kate Robson
Dr Kate Robson is clinical lead in Renal Medicine at Bayside Health Alfred Care Group and adjunct lecturer at Monash University. Kate has a particular interest in advancing the care of patients with immune-mediated kidney disease, She was awarded the ANZSN Young Investigator Award 2023 for her PhD project in cellular mechanisms of autoimmunity, and has experience as an investigator in global clinical trials in kidney diseases. Kate is founding program director of GlomCon Fellowship, an innovative online education initiative nurturing the development of nephrologists across the Asia-Pacific region. She is also a member of the ISN OSEA Regional Board. Kate enjoys playing music, walking by the sea and swimming with her young family.
A/Prof Muh Geot Wong
Dr Wong is an Associate Professor in Medicine, University of Sydney, Senior Consultant Nephrologist and Director of Renal Research at the Concord Repatriate General Hospital, Sydney, He is a Clinician researcher with a strong interest in understanding the pathomechanism of kidney fibrosis and has actively promoted the development of both clinical and pre-clinical research in delaying chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression in glomerular diseases, including IgA nephropathy, FSGS, diabetic nephropathy, and management of cardiovascular complications associated with CKD. He is a steering committee member of the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) Clinical Trial group that will develop a coordinated and system-wide approach to clinical trials management within the SLHD and provide strategic direction for future initiatives. He has served as Chair of the Oceania South East Asia Regional Board, International Society of Nephrology, and is the President-Elect for Asia Pacific Society of Nephrology and the Honorary Treasurer for the ANZSN.
Dr Sharon Ford
Dr Sharon Ford is the Deputy Director of Nephrology at The Austin Hospital, Melbourne, where she oversees the CKD program. Her previous positions include St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne from 2015 – 2023 where she led the Transplant Assessment Clinic, the Nephrology Clinical Trials program and the General CKD Clinic and Monash Health from 2012-2016.
Sharon competed a PhD in 2023 at the Monash University Centre for Inflammatory Diseases investigating innate immune mechanisms of the pathogenesis of MPO-ANCA vasculitis, under the supervision of Dr Kim O’Sullivan, Professors Richard Kitching and Stephen Holdsworth and Dr Shaun Summers. Sharon was awarded the ANZSN Young Investigator award for her PhD research.
Sharon is ANZSN President. She has previously undertaken ANZSN roles including Honorary Executive Officer, Councillor and Deputy Chair of Scientific Program and Awards Committee.
Dr Aron Chakera
Aron Chakera, MBBS (Hons), FRCP, FRACP, FHEA, DPhil is a Consultant Renal and Transplant Physician and Head of the Translational Renal Research Group at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research. His work focuses on immune function, host–pathogen interactions, and the development and translation of diagnostic technologies to improve outcomes in serious infections and kidney disease. He leads clinical programs in autoimmune kidney diseases, peritoneal dialysis and transplantation at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, and is the Western Australian Lead for the National KidGen renal genetics program. His research spans discovery science through to clinical trials and population-level studies. He has authored over 100 publications, secured more than $21 million in research funding, and led over 30 clinical trials, with research that has informed clinical practice, health service delivery, and policy.
Prof Nikky Isbel
Professor Nikky Isbel is a full-time Nephrologist and Transplant Physician at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. She is an active researcher with expertise in kidney transplantation, complications of immunosuppression, disorders of complement regulation, and glomerulonephritis. With over 200 peerreviewed publications, Professor Isbel has made significant contributions to her field.
Prof Shilpa Jesudason
Prof Shilpanjali Jesudason (MBBS PhD FRACP FISN) is an academic nephrologist, Head of Department at the Royal Adelaide Hospital’s Central Northern Adelaide Renal and Transplant Service, South Australia. She is the founder of Pregnancy and Kidney Research Australia, co-leads the ISN Train the Trainer Program for Pregnancy and Kidney Disease, and is the chair of the Australian and Zealand Dialysis and Transplantation Registry (ANZDATA) Parenthood working group. She is a founding co-chair of the ANZ Society of Nephrology Pacific Working Group. She was formerly the medical director of Kidney Health Australia and has a focus on consumer partnerships and advocacy. In 2025, she was awarded the International Society of Nephrology Roscoe R. Robinson Award.
A/Prof Jessica Ryan
A/Prof Jessica Ryan is a staff Nephrologist at Monash Health and Clinical Adjunct Associate Professor at Monash University, Department of Medicine and currently leads the CKD and Glomerulonephritis service at Monash Health. In addition, Jessica participates in the Monash Vasculitis, Renal Transplantation and Renal Genetics services. Passionate about education, especially with regards to rare kidney diseases, her post-doctoral research interests include ANCA-associated vasculitis and Glomerulonephritis. Dr Ryan has been involved in numerous clinical trials as a Principal and Sub-investigator in diseases such as ANCA-associated vasculitis, IgAN, membranous GN, aHUS and C3GN. Dr Ryan is the current Secretary of the Australian and New Zealand Vasculitis Society (ANZVASC) and chair of the ANZVASC Education committee.
A/Prof Seetha Viswananthan
Dr. Seethalakshmi Viswanathan is a Senior Staff Specialist in Tissue Pathology and Diagnostic Oncology, ICPMR, Westmead Hospital, and Clinical Associate Professor, University of Sydney.
She is a practicing clinical diagnostic Anatomical Pathologist with over 25 years' experience in various areas of Anatomical Pathology, with special interest in Diagnostic and Transplant Renal Pathology and Gynecologic Pathology. She has a keen research interest in the field of renal pathology with a number of publications in peer reviewed journals. She is passionate in teaching and mentorship of trainees and medical students and an active member of the International Committee of the Renal Pathology Society from the Australasian region.
